Questions
What is the difference between PN and PDRN?
Both come from salmon DNA but differ in chain length. Polynucleotides (PN) are over 1500 kDa, are injected and build a hydrating scaffold in the dermis. PDRN are shorter (50-1500 kDa), work through receptor signalling and are applied superficially, for example with microneedling.
Are polynucleotides safe?
Polynucleotides are highly biocompatible and non-immunogenic. They are non-coding, fragmented DNA strands that do not integrate into the genome and are broken down enzymatically into nucleotides. Ameela uses wild salmon DNA from MSC-certified fisheries, purer than DNA from farmed fish.
When do results show, and how long do they last?
The improvement builds over weeks. The recommended course is 2-3 sessions, 2-3 weeks apart, with one maintenance session every 6-9 months depending on age and skin quality.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. After a superficial or medium peel, wait 3-5 days. After blepharoplasty, 2-3 weeks, once the sutures are out. With RF microneedling, inject 48-72 hours after the treatment or use it as a primer before. Flying straight after treatment is fine.
Is Ameela related to Nucleadyn?
Yes. Ameela and Nucleadyn are the same formula, rebranded in June 2020. Patients treated with Nucleadyn can continue with Ameela without changing the protocol.
